I’m having this extremely odd and specific bug where the deflicker filter turns off in the Wii menu, but only specifically when any special mail is rendered when viewing mail (not when the msg board loads in general).
It stays off for that session and turns back on when the wii menu is reloaded (and I think when a channel/game is loaded too, though I am yet to thoroughly test that)
To clarify, I am NOT interested in debating wether or not deflicker looks better and I will NOT discuss it. I am just looking for a solution to this issue - though for context, I want the deflicker filter ON while in the Wii menu and I really don’t want it OFF.
I vaguely remember this started happening when I got a Wii Speak message for the first time from one of my friends - though this happens even when checking special mail from before patching for WiiLink and mail unrelated to WiiLink services (like achievement messages from games).
Even backing up and importing the whole message board (using cdbackup) to another Wii console entirely (that was even recently factory reset) dosen’t get rid of this issue. It’s really strange.
This doesn’t happen at all if the Wii is booted into Recovery Mode (which disables the message board), or if it’s in an interlaced video mode (576i or 480i, I have a PAL console), even when checking the mail. I verified this by using priiloader’s system menu hacks.
Hopefully someone here has some leads as to what’s happening and can help me fix this issue, as it’s been really bugging me and this seems to be a place where I can get some help. Thanks!
