Error accessing User Agreements in the console

OSC have diagnostic instructions for this error at Help & Troubleshooting: Read Error -6 - Open Shop Channel

These errors are normally caused by ISP interference, which definitely seems to be the issue in this case. Try using a mobile hotspot to connect your Wii to the internet and see if that works. If it does, you can use a computer with a VPN as your hotspot for a more permanent solution, although I appreciate it isn’t ideal.

Oh, thanks Harry, I’ll try to figure out what the problem is now!

Hey, MegaMarcos, it’s me again. Sorry to ask, but have you managed to set up WiiLink EULA on your Wii yet? Just curious.

Hi.
Yes, I tried automatic DNS and then the 2009 Nintendo EULA appeared, and I was able to click “Accept.” However, when accessing the channels, they all show an error (except the Kirby channel). That’s why I was asking if it could be something with my router settings, as I don’t know what to think.

I don’t want to start any arguments, but a while ago, with the same console, the same connection, and the same router, everything worked perfectly with RiiConnect24 (Weather, News in Spanish, Check Mii Out, Opinions, etc.). It occurs to me that RiiConnect24 was focused globally, whereas WiiLink prioritizes North America.:man_shrugging:

Well, if you think about that, that’s the same situation in every console, not with Wiilink.

For example, the European Wii only has 6 languages (fortunately mine, Italian, is included) because in 2006 the eastern European countries were the richest ones and with more people, while Western European countries were still recovering from the collapse of the USSR. You see, history is applied even on consoles.

Even if Wiilink pays attention in countries where there are more Wiis, I think Wiilink extended the console in more countries, something that on Wii times wouldn’t be possible.

I personally think that if other people from Argentina could still use the Channels, then it’s probably a problem that all still hasn’t noticed. (I’m not a moderator, I just try to express my opinion about this).

Hi again,

As I said previously, these issues are being caused by something on your Internet connection interfering, whether that be something on your local network, your ISP, or your country. This is not something under our control. At WiiLink, we try our best to service as many locations as possible - whether that be our revivals of Japanese and European exclusive channels, or our Forecast Channel revival which supports far more countries and cities than either Nintendo or RiiConnect24 ever did.

Hey everyone.
I just wanted to let you know that today (after several days) I turned on my Wii again and all the channels are working, including the WiiLink EULA with custom DNS settings. I didn’t change anything on my connection or router, so I suspect it was something external.

By the way, I live in Argentina and my console is set to Spanish, and apparently the News Channel interprets Spanish as meaning Spain, since it’s the only country listed first in the options (besides International). I mention this simply because it wasn’t always like this. (Spanish is spoken in Spain but also in the vast majority of the Americas.)

Well, good for you

Glad to hear it’s working now!
If you have a few local news sources you recommend, I can look about adding them to the News Channel for region-specific news in Argentina.

Hi Harry. Thanks for your reply.
My console is set to Argentina as the country, and Spanish as the language.
Just in case it helps, here’s an example of what I currently see in the News Channel’s Sections (in Spanish):
España (15 news items)
Internacional (12 news items)
Deportes (5 news items)
Cultura (2 news items)
Economía (5 news items)
Ciencia y salud (1 news item)
Tecnología (1 news item)
I could recommend the following Argentine news websites:
