FORE000006 and NEWS000006 are the two most common errors you may receive while using our service. Fortunately, there are 4 different fixes to try, which will resolve these errors in almost every scenario.
Fix 1: Synchronising time
One of the most common causes for these errors is having the incorrect time set on your console. Simply follow these instructions to synchronise your time. If you’ve used the patcher recently, you should already have the sntp app, so there’s no need to download it.
Fix 2: Setting UTC offset (vWii ONLY)
As part of our official installation guide for vWii, you are instructed to setup a Priiloader patch to setup your UTC offset. If you didn’t do this for whatever reason, fear not! Just follow these instructions to set it up.
The following solutions are Wii ONLY. If you are still receiving the error on vWii at this point, please open a thread to receive assistance.
Fix 3: Removing the clock battery (Wii ONLY)
Sometimes sntp doesn’t do the trick, but removing the clock battery almost always will!
- Power off and unplug your Wii console.
- Remove the clock battery from the side of your console. It is stored within the compartment shown in this image:
- Leave your console as-is for 2-3 hours.
- Reinsert the battery (this is a good opportunity to replace it, as the battery is likely to be almost dead with the age of the console. You can replace it with any standard CR2032 battery, which are commonly sold in stores.).
- Plug in and turn on your Wii.
- Head back to the Homebrew Channel, and run sntp again.

Warning! These instructions cause several side effects and should only be followed as a last resort. Please read all details below before continuing.
