Should I REALLY mod my Wii?

I personally think its risky and I feel like I might screw up somewhere, but I’ve been watching more and more tutorials and I’m slowly getting more confident and comfortable with modding my Wii. But the only disadvantages I have is that I only have a 1GB SD Card with FAT32 format and a USB drive that I’m not sure if it works. I feel like I might want someone else that I know to mod their Wii and get used on what I could expect if it were my Wii. I just want to mod my Wii just to have the News and Forecast channel working again. I tried downloading the patcher before but every time I do my computer detects a virus and won’t let me download it. At this point I just don’t know what to do so I’m just asking anybody if they have suggestions or any advice that they can give me. Thanks!

YES you should mod your wii, it may seem risky but as long as you have bootmii and priiloader installed you can always fix your wii if it got bricked. plus you can do so many things with a modded wii!

TIPS: before installing wads make sure you have enough wii storage left, if you do isstall a wad without enough space your wii will become bricked, fortunatly you can get around this by booting into priiloader and uninstalling the wads.

I got the patcher to work finally and I’m so far feeling alright, I’m still wondering if a 1GB SD card would be enough. One thing I also think is important to mention is that I don’t have the homebrew channel downloaded.

Make sure to follow our official guide at WiiLink - Guide (Installation guide), and the official homebrew guide at https://wii.hacks.guide.

1 GB should be enough but I recommend 2GB as card

Note: you can’t use an sd card higher than 32gb

You actually can use SD cards up to 2TB in capacity! It just means you have to use a third party program to do the formatting on Windows.

I recommend you download homebrew channel, BootMii and Priiloader

I got to try that

Do you have any suggestions of free ones?

I tried installing the homebrew channel using the DNS method but its been stuck saying “Testing connection…” for like 15 minutes. I’m a bit worried now. Should I power off or just wait longer?

Restart the console and try again

Alright guys! I’m making progress! I’m on the part where it detects the bad blocks and all that, I’m really excited to see what I can do.

that is great

good job on your wii modding journy

you forgot the golden wii

i found the wiis on a google image, they didnt have the golden wii.

alright

I got my Wii modded, but the audio sounds pixilated on the Wii Menu and on the channels and discs, does anyone know how to fix that or is there no way?

Nevermind, I just had to turn off and turn on the console

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: If you want, go for it. Initially I just modded my wii for one purpose: Cleanrip game dumps for Dolphin Emulator. There’s so much more that can be done with it and I’m glad I’ve discovered WiiLink.
